Give yourself a couple of days (or more) before settling on a name. Of course, if the name just doesn't fit, you can always change it. Hopefully you will not have been using it for long. Changing a name after you have been using it for two or three weeks can be confusing for the dog. Often a dog's behaviour and temperment is helpful when deciding on a name. For example, does he often grab toys and other things and take off with them? Bandit might an appropriate name. Is he extremely outgoing and friendly? Happy or Lucky might fit. There may be a name from a movie character that YOU really like which might fit your dog. Rocky and Duke are a couple of examples. Sometimes, favorite foods inspire us to name our dog.
